5-year-old and 19-year-old injured in North Texas drive-by shooting | State News

arlington, Texas — A 5-year-old girl and a 19-year-old man were injured in a drive-by shooting early Sunday morning in Arlington, according to police.

Just before 3 a.m., officers responded to a home in the 1000 block of Tennessee Trail following reports of a drive-by shooting. Upon arrival, they found the 19-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds in one of the bedrooms and the 5-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to her hand. Both victims were transported to a hospital and are expected to survive.

A 20-year-old man inside the home was also grazed by a bullet but declined transport and was treated at the scene, according to Arlington police. Two other individuals in the house at the time were not injured.

Residents of the home told officers they did not know who or why someone would target their residence. Currently, there is no information on a suspect.

Investigators are canvassing the neighborhood for surveillance footage or witnesses who may have additional information, police said.
