Two killed in crash while fixing tow rope in northeast Sioux Falls on Sunday

SIOUX FALLS — Two people were killed in a crash on North Cliff Avenue early Sunday when a pickup slammed into two vehicles stopped on the side of the road trying to fix a tow strap.

Sioux Falls Police say the incident happened about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Cliff Avenue and 34th Street North.

A red Ford F150 pickup was towing a red Chevy Impala south on Cliff when they stopped to fix the tow strap. That's when a red Chevrolet Silverado pickup, also traveling south, struck the two stopped vehicles and the occupants.

A man and woman were both dead on the scene.

Police said alcohol was a possible contributor in the crash and further criminal charges are pending.
