Laurie Iverson | News, Sports, Jobs

Sept. 23, 1957-April 8, 2024

mansfield, Texas

Laurie, the radiant light of our family, passed away peacefully with her loving husband by her side after a nine month battle with sarcoma cancer. She was born to Arnold “Arnie” and Louise (Checkwick) Miller in Minot, ND. She grew up in Burlington, ND and graduated from Des Lacs High School & Minot State University. She was active in Minot Trail Riders and while in Minot was employed at Midwest Federal Savings and Loan and Watne Realtors.

She met the love of her life, Kevin Iverson, at the 1975 ND State Fair. They married July 12, 1980 at Christ Lutheran Church where they were active as youth advisors. The light of her life was their three daughters, Missy, Kristie, and Nikki. Every year she volunteered at their schools as a room parent, raised funds for their interests, and always opened her home, heart, and fridge to any and all of their friends. She was the glue that held her family together as they lived in five different states due to Kevin’s employment with the federal government.

She taught her family to love openly, without restraint, and had the magical capability of turning both holidays and normal weeknights into memorable celebrations. Her infectious smile and laugh brightened every room. She warmly welcomed all who entered her home with scrumptious meals cooked with fresh herbs from her garden. Laurie also had a love for cats, so there was always a rescued feline ready to jump in your lap and greet you. Laurie filled the home with upbeat music and joy through her love of Disney. Her passion for all things Disney started with their honeymoon and led to numerous memorable family trips to Florida. Most of all, she will be remembered for her legacy of kindness and unending generosity. None who met her ever left without a big hug and likely a plate of homemade desserts.

Laurie’s loving family includes her children: Melissa (Missy) Iverson and husband Spencer Nielsen, Cedar Hill, TX; Kristie Iverson and husband Dane Jensen, Spring, TX; and Nicole (Nikki) Iverson, Mansfield, TX. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Kevin; Mother, Louise of Minot; Brother Charles (Chuck) Miller and wife Diane, Sawyer ND; brother James “Jim” Miller and wife Debbie, Glasston, ND; mother-in-law: Shirley Iverson, Minot; sister-in-law: Lynn (Dave) Jensen, Minot; brothers-in-law: Wade (Cheryl) Iverson, Fargo, ND; Joel (Karen) Iverson, Missoula, MT; and several nieces and nephews.

Laurie was preceded in death by her father Arnie Miller and father-in-law: Victor Iverson.
