A truck ran into a building about 5:45 p.m. Friday in Davenport, where crews remained late into the night trying to determine how best to safely remove the truck from the building.
Witnesses said a pickup truck ran a traffic light and hit a tow truck in the intersection of 3rd and Division streets. When the driver tried to avoid it, witnesses said, the tow truck ran into the corner of the structure.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m., MidAmerican Energy crews removed power lines attached and near the building. The mother of the building’s owner and Davenport’s First Ward Alderman Rick Dunn told Our Quad Cities News crew the building probably will be in the first stages of demolition Friday night.
The JBA towing driver, who hit the windshield, was injured. He is expected to recover after being treated at a hospital.
Building owner Tim Clark told Our Quad Cities News crew that he just closed on the building Monday. He had planned to refurbish it into rental space and possibly a wood shop. The structure was built in 1904.
The pickup truck driver also was taken to a hospital.
There will be a $60,000 lien put on the building for the demolition. And that will remain in the hands of insurance to figure out.
Our Quad Cities News will stay in contact with police to provide details when they become available.
