Now being activated for the Fourth of July holiday period to help keep drunk drivers off the road is AAA’s Tow to Go program.
AAA of Michigan spokesperson Adrienne Woodland tells us Tow to Go can help someone who’s had too much to drink get home without putting anyone in danger.
“When someone calls Tow to Go, AAA dispatches a tow truck to transport the would-be impaired driver and their vehicle to a safe location within a 10-mile radius,” Woodland said. “The program is free and it’s available to AAA members as well as non-members. Yet AAA asks that it be treated as a last resort.”
Woodland says since Tow to Go was started more than 25 years ago, it’s prevented more than 30,000 drunk drivers from being on the road.
When someone calls, AAA will send them a tow truck, which will take that person and their car anywhere within a ten-mile radius.
Tow to Go will be active from 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 3 to 6 a.m. Monday, July 8. It can be reached by calling 855-2-TOW-2-GO.
