No specialists appear in The dallas Morning News’ top 100 recruits for the Class of 2025.
Despite the absence of any kickers, punters or long snappers, the Dallas-area is bustling with nationally-recognized special teams talent in the rising senior class.
Here are some names to keep an eye on.
Hautanen ranks seventh in the Kohl’s Professional Camps national kicking rankings for the Class of 2025 and has received a five star rating from the organization. As a punter, he is ranked 28th nationally by Kohl’s and holds a 4.5-star rating. Last football season, Hautanen earned first-team all-district and second-team all state honors as a kicker. He won the 2024 Kohl’s Texas Showcase field goal competition.
Ranked as the 17th-best long snapper in the nation in the Class of 2025 by Kohl’s Professional Camps, Scoggins carries a 4.5-star rating from the organization. The 6-2, 220-pound snapper has an offer from Air Force and his average snap time is .72 seconds.
The rising senior boasts a five-star rating from Chris Sailer Kicking and is ranked seventh nationally in the Class of 2025. At 6-3, 185 pounds, Dewers can hit an accurate ball off the ground and has a 55-yard-plus range, according to Chris Sailer Kicking.
With an average snap speed of .72 seconds, Houston is ranked 27th in the nation in the Class of 2025 by Kohl’s Professional Camps and has a 4.5 star rating. He is a two-time team Special Teams Player of the Year.
He is the 16th-ranked punter in the nation, according to Kohl’s Professional Camps, which gave him a five-star rating at that position. Cartwright won the 2024 Kohl’s Texas Showcase punt competition and carries a 4.5-star rating as a kicker.
The 6-0, 200-pound snapper has an average snap time of .74 seconds. A 4.5-star prospect, Moeller is ranked 39th nationally in the Class of 2025 by Kohl’s Professional Camps.
Last season, McGough was a first-team all-state kicker. He is a five-star prospect ranked 24th in the nation by Chris Sailer Kicking and has an offer from Duke. The 6-0, 175-pound rising senior was also the District 7-6A Special Teams Player of the Year in 2023 and he plays soccer.
Faris, who boasts an average snap time of .71 seconds, is ranked 47th nationally by Kohl’s Professional Camps. The 6-0, 190-pound rising senior is a 4.5-star snapper.
He is the 15th-ranked punter and the 69th-ranked kicker in the nation by Kohl’s Professional Camps. As a punter, Dunham holds a five-star rating from Kohl’s and is a 4.5-star kicker.
With an average snap time of .75 seconds, the 6-2, 180-pound snapper ranks 49th in the nation and carries a 4.5-star rating, according to Kohl’s Professional Camps. Amezcua was a District 6-5A all-district honorable mention in 2023.
Piper is a five-star kicker, according to Chris Sailer Kicking, and is the fifth-ranked prospect in the nation in the Class of 2025. The 6-3, 180-pound rising senior will play in the Adidas All American Bowl in January.
Kelley plays at linebacker and running back, but he’s also a five-star long snapper and ranks seventh in the nation at the position in the Class of 2025, according to Rubio Long Snapping.
A 4.5-star snapper according to Rubio Long Snapping, Akins ranks 37th in the nation in the Class of 2025. The 6-1, 205-pound rising senior had an average snap time of .67 seconds during his junior season in 2023.
