Birmingham police release video, photo of person of interest in slaying of towing company owner

Birmingham police released footage and a photo Friday showing a person of interest in the slaying of a towing company owner earlier this month.

Police are trying to identify and locate the person of interest in the death of 41-year-old Birmingham resident Christopher Deandre Coleman, who was found shot to death beside his tow truck April 13 on Maple Avenue Southwest.

Police are trying to identify and locate the person of interest in the death of 41-year-old Birmingham resident Christopher Deandre Coleman, who was found shot to death beside his tow truck April 13 on Maple Avenue Southwest.

Coleman was the owner of Coleman’s towing. He was a father, a grandfather and described by friends as a family man.

West Precinct officers were dispatched at 11:10 p.m. April 13 to the 1700 block of Maple Avenue S.W. after someone called 911 about a tow truck that was backed onto the property of a vacant house.

Officers arrived to the find the tow truck was still running. As they walked around the truck, they found Coleman dead on the ground.

Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said one of the residents in the neighborhood did hear gunshots but did not go outside to investigate.
