Camping enthusiasts reminded of camper towing safety

BISMARCK, N.D. (KXNET) — Camping season will be here before we know it, and locals are already preparing campers with the information they’ll need to know before hitting the outdoor. This weekend, Capital RV in Bismarck held a presentation about towing safety with the goal of making sure those who tow and hitch campers know how to do safely.

Tips covered during the event including ensuring that one has the right hitch for the right camper — as not having a heavy enough hitch or the right equalizer for your travel trailer can cause you to become unsafe while driving. Capital RV encourages camping enthusiasts to be sure they have the correct equipment before hitting the road.

“The biggest safety tip is making sure you have everything hooked up correctly,” says Capital RV’s Parts Manager Tyler Kuntz. “You don’t want to be in a rush and mess something up — if you forget to lock your hitch, or you don’t put the latch down on your tongue jack or the tongue of your camper, it’ll pop off and cause more issues.”

Kuntz adds to make sure every piece of equipment is properly maintained, and that those wh and also making sure to be using the proper hooking and setting up methods.

Capital RV will host their next public event on March 16th, at 10:00 a.m. They will be discussing maintaining your camper, and the most important maintenance to do before heading out for the first time this year.
