Meanwhile, some electric cars aren't rated for towing at all. Much like ICE vehicles, sportier EVs have a small or non-existent tow rating, often because they can't handle the extra weight on their frame/sub-frame, their power plants can be overloaded from towing, or they simply do not have the space for a tow bar.
The main issue with an EV is that they seem to feel these effects more dramatically. Unlike an ICE vehicle that can change into a higher gear at 100km/h, an EV has no gears and, in turn, uses more power the faster you go. This means travelling down the freeway, where you maintain a constant speed and use little of the regen braking, can halve your range.
