County officials in northeast Wisconsin begin issuing tow bans due to weather

(WFRV) – With the snowstorm and high winds, driving conditions are continuing to deteriorate in northeast Wisconsin, and tow bans are being placed in several counties.

A tow ban means that if your vehicle is stalled or wrecked along the road, it can’t be towed out until conditions improve enough that it’s safe to do so.

County officials say they will update the public when the ban has been lifted, but it could be some time as the snowstorm is projected to last for the next several hours.

According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, they’ve seen nearly 65 accidents on the roadways in just a couple of hours.

As of 8:45 p.m., Outagamie County is the only county in northeast Wisconsin to issue a tow ban. More counties could impose the tow ban in the coming hours.
