Dallas man charged with capital murder in fatal shooting of two women | North Texas

dallas, Texas — In the early hours of May 18, 2024, Dallas Police responded to a distress call from the 2400 block of N. Washington Avenue, where they discovered a shocking scene of violence.

Upon arrival, officers found 22-year-old Jalisa Lockett, 24-year-old Amaya Lockett, and an unidentified man, all suffering from gunshot wounds. Tragically, both women were pronounced dead at the scene, while the man was transported to a local hospital where he remains in stable condition.

The preliminary investigation led to the identification of a suspect, 25-year-old Saadiq Shabazz, of Dallas, Texas. Shabazz has been charged with Capital Murder and is currently in custody at the Dallas County Jail.
