Dallas, TX: 88-year-old missing woman last seen Saturday

Police say the woman was reported missing on Tuesday.

dallas, Texas — The Dallas Police Department and members of the Singing Hills community are asking for your help finding 88-year-old Myrtle Polk, who was reported missing on Tuesday.

Police say she was last seen near the 1100 block of Indian Creek Trail in Dallas.

Polk is known to her community as a matriarch. Her son Phillip Polk says she was last seen on Saturday and knew something was wrong when she didn’t show up to church at the Exciting Singing Hills Baptist Church on Sunday.

Since her disappearance, many people have done what they can to search for her on their own. “She is truly an elder in the community,” said her son.

Phillip Polk said his mother is a pillar in the community. She taught for nearly 50 years within Dallas ISD schools and served at the church for decades.

Many people have searched some of the normal areas she would frequent, like the car wash or grocery store near her home.

“When we activated the village to help us locate her,” said Phillip.

His mother suffers from early signs of dementia. He said she drives a black Lexis ES 330TX LP BV7-K204.

Howard E. Anderson Sr. is the lead pastor of the church. He said many church members were devastated by her disappearance, but wouldn’t stop searching until they found her.

“If you see anything from the bullet that the police department has put out, please call them,” he said.

Her son said faith is the only thing keeping him grounded right now.

“We chose to believe that my mom is somewhere waiting to be found, waiting to come home healthy,” said Phillip. “That's what we're standing on.”
