Florida man accused of shooting tow truck driver makes first appearance

I’LL TALK ABOUT THAT COMING UP IN JUST A FEW MINUTES, COVERING THE TREASURE COAST HERE AT NOON. THE MAN ACCUSED OF SHOOTING ANOTHER MAN TRYING TO REPOSSESS HIS CAR MAKES HIS FIRST APPEARANCE IN COURT IN SAINT LUCIE COUNTY. THIS IS OUR FIRST LOOK AT THE MUGSHOT FOR THE SUSPECT. TREASURE COAST BUREAU REPORTER JOSSIE CARBONARE WAS IN THE COURTROOM AS THE JUDGE ANNOUNCED HIS FORMAL CHARGES. IN HIS FIRST APPEARANCE IN FRONT OF A SAINT LUCIE COUNTY JUDGE, 59 YEAR OLD OMAR SUKHOI, WHO POLICE SAY SHOT A MAN ON HIS PORT SAINT LUCIE PROPERTY, WAS READ HIS CHARGES. SUKHOI HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE AND AGGRAVATED BATTERY WITH A DEADLY WEAPON. A JUDGE ORDERING HIM NO CONTACT WITH THE VICTIM, GRANTING. A $105,000 BOND ON THE BATTERY CHARGE AND NO BOND ON THE ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE CHARGE. IT COMES AFTER PORT SAINT LUCIE POLICE SAY A 28 YEAR OLD MAN WITH A TOW COMPANY WENT TO A HOME ALONG SOUTHWEST VILLANOVA ROAD TO REPOSSESS A CAR JUST AFTER NOON ON THURSDAY. POLICE SAY SUKHOI WALKED OUT OF HIS HOME AND BEGAN ARGUING WITH A 28 YEAR OLD BEFORE THINGS GOT VIOLENT. THAT’S WHEN SUKHOI CAME OUT OF HIS GARAGE WITH A GUN AND SHOT THE OTHER MAN MULTIPLE TIMES. I HAVE CAMERAS AT HOME THAT WAS FILMING AT THE TIME THAT EVERYTHING HAPPENED. MY CAMERAS ARE AT SIX, SEVEN FEET AWAY FROM WHAT HAPPENED AND, UH, MY ACCUSATIONS ARE BASED ON VIDEOS TAKEN FROM 200FT AWAY. AND I NEVER MENTIONED THAT THIS IS THE PERSON ISSUED A TRESPASS AGAINST ME. THE VICTIM WHO WAS SHOT DID SURVIVE THAT ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGE IS PUNISHABLE UP TO LIFE IN PRISON. Suspect charged with attempted murder after shooting repo man multiple times in Port St. Lucie

A Port St. Lucie man heard the charges against him in his first appearance in front of a judge on Friday. Omar Sueque, 59, is accused of shooting a man on his Port St. Lucie property. He was charged with attempted homicide and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. The judge ordered Sueque to have no contact with the victim. While he was granted a $105,000 bond on the aggravated battery charge, he was not given a bond for the attempted homicide charge. Port St. Lucie police said a 28-year-old man with a tow company went to Sueque's home along Southwest Villanova Road to repossess a car shortly after noon Thursday. According to police, Sueque walked out of his home and began arguing with the tow truck driver before coming out of his garage with a gun. Police said he shot the 28-year-old multiple times. Sueque defended his actions, saying that cameras on his property recorded the entire incident. "They are 6 to 7 feet away from what happened, and my accusations are based on video taken from 200 feet away. They never mentioned the person made personal threats against me," he said. The 28-year-old survived the shooting. The attempted murder charge is punishable up to life in prison.
