Fremont man arrested on suspicion of attacking tow truck driver

FREMONT – A 61-year-old man was arrested last week on suspicion of assaulting a tow truck driver in Fremont, police said.
The incident happened around 5:10 p.m. on March 31 at an apartment complex on Fremont Boulevard, the Fremont Police Department said in a news release Wednesday.
The victim was at the complex to tow a vehicle parked in another resident’s space.
The suspect hit the victim with a stick, brandished a firearm at him and stole the keys to the tow truck before driving away from the scene in his own car, police said.
The victim suffered minor injuries to his face and an arm.
Police identified the suspect as a resident of the complex and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
On April 2, officers arrested the suspect and booked him into the Santa Rita Jail on charges of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm and exhibiting a concealed firearm in public.
A replica Glock BB gun was found during a search of the suspect’s car, police said.
The suspect has previous arrests for assault with a deadly weapon and convictions for carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle and willful discharge of a firearm in a negligent manner, police said.
