Firefighters in grand prairie battled a large fire at a salvage yard Friday evening, officials say.
In a Facebook post Friday, the Grand Prairie Fire Department said a “multiple compacted automobile fire” was reported in the 4000 block of East Jefferson Street, about 10 miles west of downtown dallas.
No injuries were reported, the department added.

In an update to the Friday post, the department said the fire was “under control.” Multiple people who left a comment in response to the department’s Facebook post shared photos of smoke from the fire.
Authorities were notified of the fire shortly after 5 p.m., said Marina Bustillo, a spokesperson for the department. Bustillo said firefighters worked to put out hot spots in the area through Saturday morning.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Bustillo said.
