Joyce Haynes Obituary - Grand Prairie, TX

February 29, 1932 - January 27, 2024

Joyce Evelyn Holden Haynes passed peacefully on January 27, 2024 at the age of 91 in Carrollton, Texas where she resided at Carrollton Gardens Assisted Living.

A leap year child, Joyce was born on February 29, 1932, in Broken Bow, Oklahoma and just missed her 23rd leap year celebration by a month. After graduating from Pine Bluff High School (Arkansas) in 1949, Joyce worked briefly as a secretary and policy writer at Bloom Insurance Company. In 1950, she married Chester Haynes and the couple moved their family of four, including daughters Phyllis and Kathy, from Pine Bluff to grand prairie, Texas in 1956.

In addition to her family, membership at First Baptist Church, Grand Prairie was the center of Joyce's life. Having accepted Jesus as her savior at the age of 12 and baptized in a creek near Holly Creek Baptist Church in Dierks, Arkansas, Joyce followed a life of service by teaching Sunday School on multiple levels, including nursery, preschool/children and adult. In addition, she was quite active in Woman's Missionary Union (WMU) and various mission auxiliaries and also sang in the sanctuary and senior adult choirs at church for many years. Joyce and her beloved husband Chester participated in several mission trips with The Master's Builders organization from First Baptist, Grand Prairie, as well.

Joyce is survived by Phyllis Carlin, daughter of Fairview, TX, (Glenn Carlin, son-in-law), Kathy Beasley, daughter of Carrollton, TX, Jake Beasley, grandson of Carrollton, TX, Will Beasley, grandson of dallas, TX; nieces Jennifer Holden of New Orleans, LA and Jill Holden (Rebecca Dunlap), Paradise, TX and nephew Derek Holden (Karen), Justiceburg, TX. She is predeceased in death by Chester Haynes, her husband of 63 years; mother Daisy Holden Nolley; father Geoffrey Holden; and brothers Doug Holden and Jim Holden.
