Lehigh Acres man accused of jumping into tow truck, shooting at driver

A Lehigh Acres man is facing charges after allegedly firing a shot at a tow truck driver towing a white BMW on Wednesday morning. It happened close to 3 a.m. at a home along 12th Street W. The tow truck driver, Thomas Marcum, with ABS Recovery, told deputies he was removing a white BMW from the home for a repossession when someone ran out of the house and jumped in the car.“I was doing a repossession and as I was pulling out of the driveway, Dexter’s brother hopped into the vehicle I guess,” Marcum told 911 dispatchers.Dispatch could hear arguing in the background of the 911 call. Marcum told dispatch the argument was only verbal at the time. Then, Marcum told deputies that the owner of the BMW, 29-year-old Nathan Holmes, jumped into the driver’s seat of the tow truck and tried to drive away. When Marcum pushed him off, he said Holmes dropped a gun. Marcum accuses Holmes of firing a shot at him. Deputies arrived on scene moments later and found a pistol in the backyard of the homes, and recovered a gun casing from the rear of the tow truck.Holmes’s brother, Shunkahaluta James Mosley, told deputies he sat in the tow truck to prevent the tow, but Marcum began to drive away with him in the car. Mosley claims Marcum began fighting with Holmes and began attacking him. Deputies arrested Holmes and charged him with burglary of a conveyance while armed, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
