Norma Hale Obituary - Grand Prairie, TX

Norma Jean Robertson Hale was born in grand prairie, Texas on September 27, 1925 to James Leonard Robertson and Eula Alberta (Pool) Robertson. She was born at her grandparents' house in Grand Prairie. She passed away on February 16, 2004 at the age of 98.

Norma grew up in the Florence Hill area, which is now Grand Prairie, where her father and grandfather owned the first grocery store and filling station. They later moved into town and Norma graduated with honors from Grand Prairie High School in 1943. After high school, she went on to graduate and receive an Associate Degree at NTAC Junior College, which is now the University of Texas at arlington.

Norma attended First Baptist Church in Grand Prairie all her life and was baptized January 1, 1938.

One day, Jimmy Hale visited First Baptist Church and spied Norma singing in the choir. They were married on Easter Sunday, April 9, 1950. They were married 69 beautiful years before his passing in February 2020.

During her working years, she was employed by Chance Vought and later worked for numerous doctors' offices in Grand Prairie.

Norma's heart has always been to share Jesus, with everyone, especially children. She became Director of Preschool 4B Sunday School Department in 1957, alongside Reba Dodd, Christyne Jacobs, Marie O'Neal, Margie Johnson and Helen Hines. Director Lucy Glenn was close by in Department 4A, and together they taught Jesus' love for all children through Bible stories and songs for over 30 years.

Eventually, she began attending her Senior Adult Sunday School class where Georgeann Farr was, and still is, the teacher. Norma loved that class and the people. She took pride in her class and spent a lot of time organizing activities.

Norma was a member of the Grand Prairie Garden Club, the Grand Prairie Women’s Club and PTA at every level and Post PTA.

Norma has been a wonderful example to her family of a strong Christian witness. She never met anyone that the conversation didn't end up with the question, "Where do you go to church?"

Norma is preceded in death by her husband; Jimmy, on February 17, 2020.

She is survived by her only daughter; Karen Eddlemon (husband, Johnny); two grandsons, Corey Eddlemon (wife, Leigh Ann), Kelly Eddlemon (wife, Lindsay), and four great grandchildren; Makinley Garrett (husband, Ethan), Morgan Eddlemon, Lucas Eddlemon and Jace Eddlemon.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church Grand Prairie Children's Ministry or Gideons International.
