Ricardo Gareca's first match as Chile National Team manager comes against the nation he led back to the World Cup in 2018.
The veteran Argentine manager will lead Chile to take on Peru in both side's Copa America 2024 opener on Friday, June 21 at AT&T Stadium. It will be a bittersweet reunion as Gareca was let go by Peru after failing to bring La Bicolor back to the World Cup in 2022.
Like Chile, Peru has a new manager as well heading into Copa America. Both nations have struggled early on in World Cup qualifying, leading to coaching changes. Now 71-year-old Uruguayan head coach Jorge Fossati has taken charge of Peru and will look to find a unit that he can use for the remainder of World Cup qualifying when that resumes in September.
With Paolo Guerrero at age 40 still scoring goals for Peru and Alexis Sanchez doing the same for Chile at age 35, there are many reasons to want to check out this exciting match live.

Each Copa America group consists of four teams. These teams each play the other once in a round-robin format. The top two from each group will progress to the quarterfinals.
Teams are ranked by points, then goal difference, and then goals scored. Should teams be level on those three criteria, the head-to-head record between those nations is used as a tiebreaker.
Group A includes the defending champions Argentina, along with Copa America newcomers Canada, plus Chile and Peru.
