Police: Suspect arrested in fatal April 9 shooting in Mansfield

mansfield, Texas — The Mansfield Police Department has charged a man with murder after police found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound he later died from.

Per Mansfield Police, officers were first called at 8:58 p.m. Tuesday about a shooting on Monticello Drive, police said. Upon arrival, police said officers found a man with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was taken to Mansfield Methodist Hospital, where he later died, police said.

Police said the suspect in the shooting had left the scene prior to their officers' arrival. 

Mansfield PD said officers later arrested Steven Shane Foster, 38, at 11 p.m. at a home in Midlothian without incident. 

Police described the shooting as a domestic dispute between an ex-fiancé and an ex-boyfriend of a woman.

Foster has been charged with murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence.

The identity off the victim will be released once next of kin has been notified, police said.
