Sources: Arlington firefighter shot during Friday welfare check

arlington, Texas — An Arlington firefighter was shot in the chest while conducting a welfare check at an apartment complex on Friday morning, Arlington city officials confirm to WFAA.

Sources tell WFAA that the firefighter is currently in serious but stable condition at the Medical City Arlington hospital.

"We are currently working with APD on putting together an official statement and will be releasing soon," the spokesperson for the Arlington Fire Department said in an email to WFAA. "Will keep you updated as I get information."

WFAA is sending crews to the scene of the incident and to the hospital to get more information.
