State Farm Roadside Assistance Review (2024)

There are a handful of State Farm roadside assistance reviews on the insurance provider’s Better Business Bureau (BBB) profile. Customer satisfaction is mixed. In one case, a customer had to wait an hour for a tow on a busy highway because of a miscommunication on State Farm’s side. In another case, a State Farm roadside assistance reviewer said they had been turned down for service several times.

These reviews account for a small fraction of State Farm’s total policyholders since it’s the largest car insurance company in the country according to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).

Our team reached out to State Farm for a comment on its negative roadside assistance reviews and received the following response:

“State Farm utilizes a third-party vendor to provide roadside assistance to our customers, servicing approximately 2.5 million requests annually. While there have been instances when an individual customer has a negative experience with a towing need, it is not the norm. It is our intention that all our customers have a favorable towing and roadside assistance experience.”

It’s important to know how most roadside assistance companies work. When you call the number for roadside assistance, you’re calling a center that contacts independent service trucks in its network. In other words, you won’t see a tow truck with the State Farm logo. It will be a local tow service, instead. Service times can vary greatly depending on tow truck availability in your area and the companies State Farm has in its network to contact.
