Texas Health Arlington Memorial achieves Level III Maternal Care Designation

arlington, TEXAS, March 8, 2024 – For the second time, Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital has been designated a Level III maternal care facility by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).

“The designation from the state reflects our continued commitment to providing comprehensive maternal and infant care to families in our community. We’re proud of our team for their hard work and dedication in caring for families,” said Blake Kretz, FACHE, president of Texas Health Arlington Memorial.

A Level III maternal care facility provides comprehensive care for pregnant women, with programs focused on healthy pregnancies, including breastfeeding support, education and non-invasive therapies to prevent unnecessary C-sections, as well as medical and surgical treatments for complex obstetrical conditions. Recently, the hospital was also redesignated as a Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for meeting the standards of care relating to the treatment of babies in North Texas. A Level III neonatal facility provides comprehensive care for infants born at all gestational ages and birth weights, with mild to complex critical conditions or medical problems.

In 2018, the state implemented the rating system for maternal care programs and NICUs to verify hospitals can provide care that leads to healthy outcomes for mothers and babies.

“This designation is a testament to the quality of care we provide to every mother who walks through our doors. Their health and well-being, along with their baby, is our top priority,” said Lori Bethel, director of Women and Infants Services at Texas Health Arlington Memorial.
