Texas Rangers pitching prospect from Grand Prairie to miss time with back injury

arlington — Texas Rangers pitching prospect Josh Stephan, who pitched at South grand prairie High School, is expected to miss at least the first two weeks of the season due to lower back soreness that necessitated a cortisone injection. He has dealt with back issues previously.

Stephan, 22, was scheduled to open the season at Double-A Frisco where he finished the 2023 season but had been bothered by the back issue late in camp. He has remained in Arizona and is pitching again, but being built back up toward being able to start.
