Woman facing intoxication manslaughter charge after deadly Grand Prairie crash, police say

A 24-year-old woman was arrested and is accused of intoxication manslaughter after a deadly collision Sunday in grand prairie, police say.

Clesiz Leiva is facing one count of intoxication manslaughter charge and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

Shortly before 7:30 a.m. Sunday, a Dodge Ram truck southbound on South Belt Line Road crossed over onto the northbound lanes of the road, near Lakeview Drive, and collided with a Jeep SUV, according to a Monday news release.

The driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead at the location. He has been identified as Carlos Alberto Arias Vera, 33, according to the dallas County medical examiner’s office.

A second person in the SUV was also injured and taken to a hospital. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, police said.

Leiva, who was driving the Ram, was taken to a hospital and treated for “minor injuries,” according to police. Authorities took her into custody after she was released from the medical facility. .

She was at the Grand Prairie jail Monday and her total bond is $125,000, according to the news release. It is unclear if Leiva has an attorney.
